Games with strong, engaging storylines + difficulty/accessibility options?

2022.01.22 10:48 zagworths Games with strong, engaging storylines + difficulty/accessibility options?

Both my parents generally enjoy video games, but haven’t played much in recent years due to varying reasons including “not their play style/genre” or “couldn’t figure out how to get past a level and never bothered to keep going”. Their birthdays are coming up soon and I’m hoping to find some things they’ll enjoy! More specifically:
Dad - likes choice-based and story-driven games, recently spent most of his spare time playing Life Is Strange: True Colours and loving it, also enjoyed Detroit: Become Human a few months ago. Does enjoy games with some combat like Tomb Raider and The Last Of Us, but they’re somewhat tougher for him to get through and he often gets stuck and refuses to look up a guide or just forgets about it, so any action-based games or things with a lot of quick-time events would probably need accessibility options if he’s to actually finish it. Primarily a PS4 player, but has Steam (and a PC-compatible controller) as well.
Mum - Much more focused on story than gameplay (“Very Easy” mode is her companion), likes to get to “know” the characters and likes somewhat light-hearted games - for reference, I got her into the Persona series and P4 is definitely her favourite, perhaps for the lighter ending compared to 2 and 3 (…we haven’t finished 5 yet). The thing she struggled most with was dungeon exploration and battles, mostly with hitting the shadows so her team didn’t get a disadvantage, so anything that has slightly less of that would be nice, but it’s no big deal either way. Any relatively simple JRPGs (or anything close enough to Persona 4) with great storylines and characters would be ideal, console-wise she usually uses my 3DS or PS Vita but Steam and Nintendo Switch are options too.
Of course I’ll also be searching up anything I find in my own searches that could work, but thank you in advance for any recommendations you may have!

Big fan of Nike’s Dri-Fit socks but I’d also like to have socks made of the same material for dressier occasions. Do these exist? Is there a name for the material that Dri-Fit socks are made from that other sock makers use?

2022.01.22 10:48 frstrtd_ndrd_dvlpr No one lives in a casino for 5 years.

Every other people claim or shout that they are gonna hold for 5 years or even a decade, but only a small portion of those who spout this line goes through with it.
People panic at the first sign of red, and follow that one red candle with more fed (sorry) candles and everybody loses their minds.
Well, that's quite normal because most people here are just gambling with their lunch money and not really investing.
If you are a gambler you'll probably leave this casino before you even get to that 5 years.
No one lives in a casino for years anyway. submitted by frstrtd_ndrd_dvlpr to CryptoCurrency [link] [comments]

2022.01.22 10:48 Emotional-Notice-396 I don't understand the APY

I've been in TIME since october and I'm glad that we are moving away from ponzi minting to a SPAC model but I don't understand how I'm still making that 0.6% every 8 hours without any minting. In a ponzi new investors have to come in to pay of old investors but we longer have any new investors coming in to pay us. Can someone give a in detail how we are still earning that apy despite no minting and how they claim to have to stopped dilution
note: if you're gonna call me a FUDster it's better to just keep scrolling than waste time both mine and yours

2022.01.22 10:48 TheSpoonmaker Slow charging when flipped

I noticed something weird since yesterday. When I try to charge the phone it will always says that the battery is too cold and has to warm up to have the fast charging. So I always had the slow charge. I try to understand why, but I finally found the problem. When I try to charge the phone when it's flipped it will always say the battery is too cold. When I open the phone and use it, it becomes back at fast charging. So I need to charge my phone open to have the fast charging. When I flip the phone it becomes slow again. I need to open the have the fast charging back. It's really annoying. I try the wireless charging and it's working fine, even flipped. So I wonder if the problem is with the sensor of the flip or something. Did someone experience the same problem? Can someone maybe help me or have any suggestions?
Ps: Sorry for the many fast charging mentions 😅

2022.01.22 10:48 eightiesmusicme 1 btc = 1 btc

This is still true. Whatever coin/token you fancy, understand that your portfolio may have lost VALUE but you haven't lost any coin!
If you have the funds, it is time to buy. Find a project with real-world use/implications. That's the safest bet. Of course, BTC/ETH are always solid, but now is the time to have a little fun with your research and purchases.
If you SELL all your bags, you will need to go to work on Monday.
If you HODL all your bags, guess what? You will need to go to work on Monday.
NOTHING has changed. And you can guarantee that nothing will change if you sell it all. BUT if you HODL...and the promise of crypto holds true...then, my friends...we will....probably still have to go to work on Monday. BUT we'll at least be a lot closer to the lambo than if we dump it all.
Not financial advice, amirite?

2022.01.22 10:48 gloaming111 Democracy wasn't democracy or bust

So, I'm probably about halfway through watching the debate with Econoboi and I find it really interesting so far. Good conversation.
Vaush made some comments along the line that unions and board representation weren't actually democracy and weren't good enough because they don't remove the fundamental split between the conflicting interests of the owner class and the workers. I agree that it wouldn't. I think a good parallel here though is the development of parliamentary democracy. Now we live in countries headed by a state where power is held in leaders selected by public voting, but something like the Parliament of England came into being to give nobles a way to hold monarchs responsible by withholding them tax revenue. I'm not familiar with all of the history here, but gradually over time public participation was increased to strengthen opposition against the monarch.
The development of capitalism finally brought about the conditions that made feudalism obsolete and which meant there was no need for a monarch at all to uphold it. This gave the new class of capitalists the strength they needed to bring about revolution and make liberalism the new social order. Even then there were still battles to fight to bring democracy to disenfranchised groups and to confront systems of oppression that we're still dealing with to this day.
I know this isn't what Econoboi is aiming at, but couldn't we view mandatory unionization and board representation for workers as a parallel to the development of constitutional monarchy with workers demanding structures to limit the power of capitalists enforced by their power to withhold labor in the same way nobles withheld taxation? It wouldn't actually be worker democracy and would require significant struggle on the part of labor, but it seems achievable given the dominant position that capitalism currently holds. There's precedent because this is what the most successful socialist movements in capitalist countries were actually able to achieve. I think we need to do anything we can to rebalance the power between labor and capital since I don't think labor is anywhere near organized or strong enough to take away all of the power from capital.
The problem with market socialism for me is that it's both too radical and not radical enough at the same time. Worker cooperatives wouldn't have a competitive advantage against private firms, so we couldn't get there through market competition. Liberal democracy would never allow for the seizure and redistribution of firms through legalistic means. If a party sufficiently committed to the establishment of market socialism ever got popular support, the owner class would suppress democracy and not recognize the legitimacy of the new government. The only way to bring this about would be through a revolutionary mass movement, but if we're at that point, why settle for redistributing ownership of existing firms to the workers? Seems like that would be an opportunity to create something like Allende attempted in Chile with Project Cybersyn and use all of the advances in information technology to solve the issues of the market altogether with a planned economy with a multiparty democracy to give the public a real say in what gets produced. Instead of having firms optimize for profit, we would elect representatives to appeal to the public to aim production to solve the issues they deal with in their daily lives.
Just offering up some thoughts. Hopefully people found it interesting.
